Description
The IontoPatch is an iontophoretic drug delivery patch that has been approved by the FDA and has been shown to work in three studies. It is allowed to be used instead of an injection with soluble salts, and dexamethasone is a common choice.
How to Use the IontoPatch™
Once you put the device on, it works on its own. You need to follow these main steps:
Load the Medication: The soluble salt's polarity must match the polarity of the patch side it is placed on. Dexamethasone is put on the patch's negative side, and saline is put on the other side.
Ensure Proper Placement: When applying the patch, ensure it's flush with the skin and free of ridges.
Delivery on its own: You don't have to do anything else after putting on the patch and applying the soluble salt and saline. It will start working right away.
Reimbursement: You can use CPT code 97033. You should ask your payer what paperwork you need to turn in to be reimbursed.
